St. Stephen’s Strawberry Festival: a Northern Neck Tradition

The 2019 strawberry festival takes place on Saturday, May 25th from 8:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the St. Stephen’s Church in Heathsville, VA. Here’s what to expect!

Enjoy Freshly Picked Strawberries

Step one for enjoying the St. Stephen’s Strawberry Festival is biting into some of the delicious local strawberries! You won’t have any trouble finding these tasty fruits here. As you explore the festival grounds, remember to save room for the popular strawberry shortcake desserts as well. The rich flavors are enough to satisfy anyone’s sweet tooth!

Browse Local Vendors

Every year, this Northern Neck strawberry festival invites local vendors to come and showcase their goods to the community. The 2018 strawberry festival attracted over 100 exhibitors, and this year’s festival is no different. You can expect to find handmade crafts, freshly plucked flowers, and tasty treats. The list of vendors to look forward to includes:

  • Auntie Alice’s Kettle Corn
  • Karin Andrews Art
  • Potomac Breeze Pottery
  • Richard Derrow Birdhouses
  • TK’s Craft and Creations
  • Whimsical Yard & Garden
  • And so much more!

Don’t forget to save some time to check out the annual Plant & Bake Sale at the festival, too!

Tour the Historic Church

Did you know that the St. Stephen’s Church is a great example of wooden Gothic style architecture from the 19th century? While you’re at the festival, feel free to stop and admire this historic structure. There are free tours each year at the festival, giving you a first-hand look at the building!
