Below are four of our favorite trails to explore Northern Neck by bicycle. From easy bicycle trails to challenging trailheads, all are great ways to enjoy the beauty and essence of the Northern Neck of Virginia.

Northern Neck Heritage Trail Bicycling Route

The Northern Neck Heritage Trail Bicycling Route is our area’s section of the Potomac Heritage National Scenic Trail Network. This network features four easy bike trails that highlight the beauty of this area. Be sure to access the trail map for more information on the location of the trails, points of interest, and more!

Belle Isle State Park

Belle Isle State Park is one of the loop trails in the Northern Neck Heritage Trail Bicycling Route. This nearly 900-acre Virginia state park on the Rappahannock River features a scenic bike loop that highlights the natural beauty of this area.

Note: The park is open from dawn to dusk daily, but the visitor center is currently closed. Stay tuned to the park website for information on when the visitor center will reopen.

Hughlett Point Natural Area Preserve

Enjoy scenic views of the Virginia coast at Hughlett Point Natural Area Preserve. This 204-acre nature area juts out into the Chesapeake Bay. Here, you can enjoy secluded beaches and scenic hiking and biking trails. These trails wind through lush greenery, over a boardwalk, and alongside the water!

Note: While the preserve is open to visitors, there is currently limited admission. Once the parking lot fills up, no more visitors are allowed until a spot opens. Please visit the official website for news and updates.

Dameron Marsh Preserve Trail

Dameron Marsh Preserve Trail is a great place to explore the natural beauty of the Chesapeake Bay area. This nature preserve spans more than 300 acres of wetlands that are perfect for hiking, biking, and marsh-bird viewing!

Note: Groups are currently limited to a maximum of 10 people on the trail at this time.
