For ten years Dudley and Peggy Patteson, owners of the Hope and Glory, also owned the nearby and acclaimed The Dog and Oyster Vineyard which had been selected by Virginia Tourism as one of their “Ten Best of the Best”. At the end of last year, they saw an opportunity to reposition the vineyard as a micro-vineyard in front of the Hope and Glory Inn. It would be an upscale and elegant setting to savor their wine with oysters especially from local oyster farmers.

Toward that goal, the owners planted a micro-vineyard of Petit Manseng at their boutique hotel Hope and Glory Inn. A large paver patio and a clear span tent was added to protect their wine and oyster guests as they dined al fresca.

Shakespeare said “the world is your oyster”; but, oysters are our world.

We are a “creative wine and oyster bar” that offers choices of oysters and seasonings all of which have been crafted by the Hope and Glory’s widely acclaimed Chef Meseret.

We are front and center in Irvington, an oyster-centric town located in a coastal Virginia region (River Realm) where 80% of Virginia’s oysters are grown locally 31 local commercial oyster farms.

We are providing the ultimate food and wine pairing – a magical culinary confluence that creates a “sense of place” where we pair two of life’s most sought-after delicacies on this earth and in the water. Both offer a taste which is “top of the class” and uniquely reflects where they are grown. For our wine it is know as terroir; for our oysters it’s merroir.
