Wondering what things to do near Chesapeake Bay? We’d like to think that our recreational activities are far more exciting than gym class. With two hard-surface tennis courts across the street, a nine-hole par three down the road, and two destination golf courses within two minutes, fun for every guest is right around the corner.
Tennis is on a first come, "first serve" basis while golf does require reserving at tee time.
Irvington certainly rivals Myrtle Beach when you realize that there is one golf hole for every 12 people who live here. Even with the increase of visitors in the spring, summer and fall, the courses are never crowded.
There is a traditional course, The Golden Eagle, which has hosted many tournaments including four State Amateur Championships. Our newest course, The King Carter, has already made a name for itself—being named Golf Digest’s “Best New Affordable Course in America with a Greens Fee Under $75” in 2006.
