| Hope
& Glory Inn
The Hope and Glory
Inn is a boutique inn of 7 rooms and 13 cottages. It
is situated within a classic waterfront town on the
Chesapeake Bay’s western shore.
Around 1890, a small school opened
in Irvington on the property of the old Methodist Church.
It had two front doors: one for boys, one for girls.
Today that small school has graduated into what:
Travel + Leisure has named
it as one of their “30 Great Inns in the US”
American Historic Inns
has ranked it one of America’s” Top Ten
Most Romantic Inns” to which The New York
Times has responded: “The description hardly
does it justice”
Frommer’s Travel Guide has
awarded it Three Stars ¬ its highest rating ¬
in its three most recent editions - 6th, 7th and 8th
Coastal Living Magazine
has called it “whimsical, extravagantly romantic…
and guaranteed to make you smile” while National
Geographic Traveler in its “Trips”
section highlighted three trips to take: Jamaica, South
Korea and to Irvington and its Hope and Glory Inn
Southern Living has named
it one of their four “Favorite Romantic Getaways”.
Virginia Living has also
chosen the Hope and Glory as one of Virginia's "13
Lavish Hotels and Inns".
Couples escape. Corporations retreat.
Families unite. Brides and grooms tie the knot here
- and remember year after year.
And no wonder…
Seven individually decorated rooms
in a historic 1890 schoolhouse eclectically styled and
hopelessly romantic; six quaint English cottages and
lush grounds featuring flowers rarely seen in Virginia
gardens today. Add this to our seven Carpenter Gothic
cottages we call "tents" located in our Vineyard
Grove situated at the headwaters of Carter's Creek.
Follow winding paths through authentic English gardens,
complete with a moon garden which only blooms in the
evening, and an outdoor shower (circa 1940) with a claw
foot tub and sink in a totally private setting. Sweet
strains of music continuously drift softly throughout
the hotel and out over the grounds to the paths and
gardens. All situated in a Chesapeake Bay waterfront
village full of chic shops and 673 endearing people.
Beyond the gardens, there is The
Meeting House, a small retreat and conference center
offering today’s technology in a creative and
totally wireless environment that only can be found
at The Hope and Glory. Our clientele includes the Fortune
500: The Kellogg Foundation, Leo Burnett, Pfizer Corporation,
Procter and Gamble and Philip Morris.
Cruise onto the water with one
of our own private captains aboard our authentic Chesapeake
Bay "dead rise," the Faded Glory.
It is an easy walk through White
Fences Vineyard to our Vineyard Grove tents (three bedroom
cottages) where one can soak by our pool or paddle your
canoe or kayak from our dock.
Dine in style at our Chef’s Table on Saturday
evenings and choose our crab cruises on Fridays. Be
bad and find yourself in Detention, our wine bar just
off our lobby.
Soothe your senses and be pampered by our massage therapist
or hone your golfing skills on three classic courses,
all within a complimentary bike ride.
There is no better place to be.
Let us delight you. Stay with us and experience our
trendy town.
